Still a nice place, still a friendly staff, but,... :/

But...

They cut the menu. And I mean cut it down alot. No onion rings, mozzarella sticks, down east clam chowder (they had the best), just burger, hotdogs, fries, ham and cheese, and a chicken sandwich.

We arrived just as they opened and sat at the counter, watching the server cook our double cheeseburgers and fries -- incredibly fresh!! That is the best burger I've had in a long time. They hand pressed the patties before as we were sitting down. The "chili sauce" is great -- just sweet, caramelized onions. The burgers are not SUPPOSED to have lettuce and tomato, so don't complain if they don't!! They have: mustard and onion and the chili sauce. The fries were so fresh and crispy. Great draft beer too, and the best prices. Double cheeseburger is $3; small fries were $2. Don't be put off by the "bar look." They keep a simple, excellent menu. And you can't beat their prices in a town that's full of mediocre food and steep prices.

Very good (and affordable) double cheeseburger. Good beer on tap. Quick service. I believe all is cash only, so be prepared.

the food they prepare is good, but they very often run out of items. I'm not sure how they can not have lettuce for burgers but they NEVER have lettuce for anything. They could make a awsome sandwich, BLT, but they NEVER HAVE THE BIG L!

I... Am disappointed. I have come here for years, starting when I was a boy, and they have changed. Remodel a little here and there, adding a stage for music.

Love the Royal James...went there the other day with our six year old for some fries and to play pool. Had a great time!
